Riding Mt Buller
Warm up your legs on the ride from Mansfield, the closest major town to Mt Buller, and enjoy some great views on the approach to the mountain. Then test your strength and endurance by tackling the 16km climb up the Mt Buller Tourist Road. The Buller Road rises 909 vertical metres in height and means business right from the start.
While pushing your body to the limit, don’t forget to take in the spectacular High Country scenery including sweeping views of the neighbouring Mt Stirling. Regular signposts on the roadside allow you to chart your progress up the mountain, advising of the altitude you have reached and the distance remaining before arriving at the Mt Buller Village.
Other great rides in the region include Mansfield to Jamieson and the classic climb from Mansfield to Tolmie.

Cycling Inform Ride Tips
While the average gradient of the climb is 6%, the start is tough. After steep pinches there is a flatter section. You’ll want to keep some fuel in the tank for the last 1.5 km which is by far the toughest part of the ride and the famous Hell Corner at 15km. Both will really put you in the hurt locker!
