Mt Buller

Riding Mt Buller

Mirimbah to Mt Buller is a 16km ride with a challenging 921 vertical metres of climb which tests you right from the start.  Signposts on the roadside give you a chance to plot your progress marking altitude and distance to the Mt Buller village. This ride is a test of strength and endurance, but the scenery is spectacular, so take a moment to take in the views of neighbouring Mt Stirling and the High Country panorama. Excellent riding is close by around Mansfield, Jamieson and up to Tolmie.

Cycling Inform Ride Tips

While the average gradient of the climb is 6%, the start is tough then it flatten off until the last 1.5 km which is by far the toughest part of the ride and the famous Hell Corner at 15km mark. Remember to eat regularly throughout the ride so you have the energy to get up the last section of the Peak. Where it’s safe to do so, take some of the steepness out of the corners by moving into the centre of the left lane on the switchbacks.
