I recommend Lake Mountain as a great place to start the 7 Peaks Challenge as it’s one of the easier ascents. The average gradient is 4%, so it’s possible to ride with a steady tempo and stay on top of your gear the whole way up. This ride also presents an opportunity to ascend in a group and benefit from the slip-stream of your mates. When riding this road with Phil we agreed that the most challenging section was the beginning. There are several downhill passages to catch your breath, making this an enjoyable ride where you can really take in the magnificent scenery.
